After the arrival of the internet, technology has become an essential component of every aspect in our lives. Its ever changing nature is what attracts me to the industry and ignited my interest to pursue a career in this field.

Studying Mathematics with Economics allowed me to take the module, MATLAB. I learned to manipulate and programme results using a computing application giving me experience in coding, sparking my initial interest in technology. This was further developed when studying data analytics, allowing me to explore how future trends are predicted via the use of current and past data.

This summer I completed a two week internship at PwC, which was a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience on what it’s like to work as a woman in a financial service sector, giving me an insight into how big corporations function on a day to day basis. Through my work experience I gained the opportunity to talk to a partner in Technology, John Lyons, who went over the variety of roles available in technology as well as his current projects such as working with RBS. This demonstrated day to day runnings of working with technology, further fuelling my passion for IT.
