I am writing in order to present my application for the Internship position at Impunity Watch in the Utrecht Office, which I learned about through my Master’s Thesis supervisor while I am currently studying the Master XXX.

I am highly interested in that position due to my special attention towards all the aspects of international criminal law and human rights. Through my academic education I have been in touch with the topic of transitional justice several times in relation with the subject of international criminal law, and specially with the cases of South Africa, Rwanda and Chile and their experience with Truth Commission as a way to redress and overcome the effects of the criminal abuses.

I would like to use this opportunity to better understand the scope of transitional justice and to contribute to the use of law and human rights to combat impunity, and to reinforce my academic knowledge regarding the field of international human rights law and transitional justice. This opportunity would complement my sound understanding of different questions related with those topics, and place me in a better position to engage in a professional career within the international human rights field.

I am a highly motivated person, devoted to the question of law as a way to address human rights issues. During my six years of law education I´ve acquired an excellent capacity to write legal texts and academic papers, in Spanish, English and French and I also have the experience to do legal research in different fields of law. I have as well acquired the capacity to work both independently or in groups as a completely adaptable person to new environments and international groups. And during my experience as Junior lawyer I developed strong organizational skills. I also believe that the experience gained as a member of the Academic Activities Committee in the law student organization XXX, could help me to continue developing jobs related with event organization and tasks coordination. This is why I am sure that due to my skills, my prior experience and my interest in transitional justice and human rights I’ll be able to contribute consistently to your project
