Dear Jessica,

I was researching some internship opportunities that would be relevant to my interests and career options I’m considering after graduation in June. I found your posting on Stanford’s career website, and after researching more about Influx Partners, I was convinced that being part of the business development team would be a perfect fit to gain valuable experience in the field of business and technology.

I am particularly interested in companies that tend to have a specialised expertise, making them very appropriate business partners for large organisations. Also I’ve learned from past experiences that young companies are more adept at moulding and developing targeted solutions to fit their problems. They are adept at responding with agility and flexibility to customer demand, and their operations and technology are also very responsive to rapid changes.

Moreover, tech industry, especially in the bay area, is a vibrant, innovative, creative sector that is booming. Nowadays, one of the key qualities of a good technologist is creativity, idea-generation, multitasking, problem-solving and a general keenness to think of new ways of doing things. This is exactly the philosophy I’ve learned and practiced being involved with the d.school at Stanford. And I am really eager to apply all my theoretical learning to solve real world problems.

The convergence of business and technology is generating new ways to effectively target problems and needs which lie outside the purview of any one field. I believe in a methodology for innovation that combines creative and analytical approaches, and requires collaboration across disciplines. This way I believe, people are most likely to produce creative solutions to even the most complex challenges. I have the ability to manage the simultaneous combination of high-level strategic thinking and tangible solution creation, be it products, services or experiences, that have a high impact on human lives.

Similarly, my interest in recruitment stems from the bidirectional process that is at its core—organizations choose employees, but employees also choose an employer. In the end, both want to move forward and create a product or provide a service that initiates change in society. After looking at Influx Partners’s clients, I consider it a significant opportunity to learn about what current technology tycoons are interested in and what trends are happening in the industry. I want to be challenged intellectually every day and have productive conversations with leading minds in the world. On a day to day basis I wish to challenge myself in finding individuals and appointing them in positions where they will thrive and create positive differences/changes.

Furthermore, I’ve learned that recruitment is much about momentum and motivation. I thrive in fast paced environment where learning curve is steep and challenging but rewarding at the end. I am the kind of person who finds excitement in closing deals after hard work. I understand the process of recruitment involves methodical analysis, planning and research in order to develop target lists of candidates who represent the best talent worldwide for a particular position. And I have always been a fan of thorough research.

I believe I am a good candidate for this position because I am a competitive, persuasive, resilient and success driven individual with a very professional outlook towards my career. My work approach is also very people-oriented as it is apparent that clients are the mainstay of this business. I have definitely perfected my skills and demeanor needed when speaking to high-level candidates and clients. Although I am comfortable working on projects with little supervision or direction, I understand the importance of teamwork and joint effort required to meet goals and deadlines.
