I read with great interest your advertisement for the role of Junior Investment Analyst, for which I would like to be considered. I am a recent MSc Finance graduate at Manchester Business School and I am really enthusiastic about building a long term career within asset management.

After having completed an 8-month internship at an asset management company, which offered me thorough insight into this field, I feel more than passionate about pursuing a career in this area. For me, it is an exciting and interesting field since each day is unique, demonstrating that there is always something new that influences the way people react and invest. More precisely, I find fascinating the fact that anything affecting financial markets from macroeconomic indicators and politics to firm specific information is relevant to this industry. As a consequence, you always need to understand the impacts of what is happening to the rest of the world, the global economy, even specific companies, and therefore your career will never be limited to a particular area. In addition, we as individuals need to save for our future and preserve our wealth which makes me more eager to join this division and fulfil this social purpose.

I firmly believe that my internship as a research analyst gave me the opportunity to develop my quantitative and qualitative skills through my process of researching and analysing financial information, as well as my communication skills through my daily interaction with colleagues, clients, brokerages and banks. From day one I was encouraged to express my thoughts on investment ideas, which significantly enhanced my understanding of various concepts and their impact upon the asset management industry and the financial world in general.

As an MSc Finance student, I achieved excellent grades in highly quantitative courses and projects and I am expecting to graduate with a distinction. Moreover, my dissertation involved considerable computing work and programming which not only introduced me to more technical aspects of asset management, but it also made me confident that I can rapidly learn new skills when required to do so. Finally, with this master’s degree I had the unique opportunity to learn further the importance of teamwork and to be a part of a multi-cultural environment that offered me a wider perspective of the world. I am confident that my skills alongside my passion for this field will give me the opportunity to maximize my contribution to your company.
