Sample cover letter for Full Time position at JICA
Project analyst
On the last year of my study at the Institute in 2008 I joined the Asian Development Bank financed project on a part time basis where I used to work as a translator. From that moment till now, I’ve worked for three projects financed by the Asian Development Bank and one project financed by the International Development Association. As far as I used to work for those projects, I observed that all the projects are aimed to improve life of people by addressing problematic issues like water scarcity, poor governance, housing in rural areas, threat of diseases, etc. Realizing this, I did my best in order to reach the final outcomes of the project and help the project to have a positive impact on the people’s lifestyle.
As a student, I began my career as a trainee at the Agency. Within two months, I assisted the project staff, mostly in translation of project documentation. Having proved myself as an efficient specialist, I got the opportunity to work as an Assistant to Project Coordinator for Project financed by International Development Association. Working under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, while obeying the Head of Procurement Department, I acted within a matrix management environment to assist in the preparation of procurement plans, tender documents, draft contracts, organizing meetings of the tender committee of the project, negotiating with suppliers of goods and services, procurement of goods, works and services, customs clearance.
After 1.5 year since I began working in the IDA project, the project was successfully completed, while grant funds were disbursed in full amount. Shortly after the completion of the IDA project, I was invited to work for the Project Management Office of the ADB financed Project. Applying the experience I gained while working in IDA project as a procurement specialist, I have successfully completed procurement of all contract packages in accordance with ADB procedures.
I know that JICA, the world’s largest bilateral development aid agency has been implementing many technical cooperation projects to promote the economic and social development. In this view, I would like to make my own contribution to enhance development of my country through JICA’s development projects. It will be a great honor for me to work for JICA and use for this reason my knowledge and experience.
