Sample cover letter for Internship position at JP Morgan Chase

POSITION:

Risk Analyst

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express interest in the position of Risk Summer Analyst at JP Morgan Chase. I have included a copy of my resume for your review. I am a strong candidate for this internship role based on my Applied Mathematics bachelor degree at XXX as well as my current enrollment in the graduate degree in Financial Engineering at xxx.

I have a strong quantitative background with extensive experience dealing with numeric and quantitative analytics. As part of my XXX and xxx course study, I used R and Excel extensively to process data and build mathematical models. I also used my programming skills such as Matlab to develop financial models for pricing and hedging options.

Before joining in xxxl, I worked as research assistant with Department of Applied Mathematics at XXX. Through my three-month summer project work, I used R and Matlab to build mathematical models to optimize a complex multivariate log-likelihood function and estimated correlation coefficients. I utilized statistical models on a daily basis. Besides great quantitative research and analytical skills, I am also a good presenter and verbal communicator. During the summer research, I presented my findings and data to two seminar groups each containing more than thirty people.

I believe I am an excellent candidate for this position and I am looking forward to meeting with you. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
