Sample cover letter for Internship position at JP Morgan
Investor service summer analyst
Dear Mr Dimon,
I am currently a penultimate student studying Economics at University College London, and am interested in joining the Investor Service Summer Analyst Programme for the 2015 intake.
My interest in J.P. Morgan began from project work during my bachelor degree in Economics and Business, where case studies involving a study of the management structure of J.P. Morgan combined with J.P. Morgan’s performance analysis were a key feature. Alongside my degree, I led a team of three to participate in the 2014 Chicago Mercantile Exchange futures trading competition with the aspiration to test my leadership skills and apply my academic knowledge in Economics in the field of futures trading. Using results from our analysis of prices and volume, trading ideas generation and study of the correlation of different asset classes, we produced a trading plan that enabled the team to make profit in the competition. I enjoy the process of creating a strategy and executing it.
The fact that the summer analyst program at Investor Service division may provide the opportunity to build relationships with clients is hugely motivating for me. As an example, summer analysts will be involved in coordinating client events, confirming client deals and creating pitch books. By joining J.P. Morgan, I could continuously develop the customer liaison skills, which I had gained as a Brand Ambassador at World Duty Free. I would like to work for a company that encourages early responsibility. Therefore, I will be able to contribute to the team as well. As a University College London’s Investment Society member, I am committed to help other members to enhance their knowledge in Finance. In this academic year, I have delivered one workshop to members on the topic of role of Investment Banks in the capital market.
I am in particularly interested in a career in the Investor Service Division at J.P. Morgan because I am looking for a career that would give me the opportunity to combine my analytical strengths with working closely with people from different backgrounds. The culture and the people working at J.P. Morgan are appealing. This was reinforced by speaking with employees at the University College London Banking and Finance Fair on the 8th October who spoke about the functions of prime brokerage and the opportunities to build relationship with clients.
I enclose my resume and look forward to hear from you.
Yours sincerely,
Stephen Chu
