Sample cover letter for Internship position at JP Morgan

POSITION:

Summer Analyst

To whom It may concern:

I am currently a junior at Boston University Questrom School Of Business, concentrating in Finance. I am writing this letter to apply for the 2016 Summer Internship in your company. I am really passionate about alternative investment. I passed Charted Alternative Investment Analyst candidate level 1 in September and became a level 2 candidate. I’m eager to learn more about every aspect of Alternative investment and apply the strategies I learned, such as short bias, 130/30 and market neutral in real life.

I believe that my knowledge of the industry, my strong work ethic, ability to multi-task and problem solving skills make me a good candidate for this program. During my summer internship, I woke up at 5:30 AM everyday to pick important news and making presentation slides for my manager, so he could have one hour to change them before 8:30AM’s meeting. I was asked by different portfolio managers to test the credibility of reports from sell side analysts since I was the only intern. I built a model on excel that allowed me to type in data of different companies in the same spreadsheet and calculate results for different companies at the same time. I was able to do the work of five people by my own with the help of my model. The company paid me $500 for my model when I left.

Working at JP Morgan can further develop my abilities while having fun in a uniquely stimulating environment. From the Webinar I learned that one of JP Morgan’s cultures is to help employees to grow their abilities and to have a successful career. And this is exactly what I want to work for! I think my knowledge and past experience will add value to your program. I hope I can get the opportunity for an interview.
