Sample cover letter for Internship position at JP Morgan

POSITION:

summer analyst

I am writing to express my interest for a place on the Morgan Stanley InstitutionalSecurities Spring Insight.

Having been informed about the programme through Manchester University Investment andTrading Group (MUTIS) and a current analyst ) I felt compelled to apply. I see thisopportunity within Morgan Stanley as an excellent foundation to develop my understanding of the industry asa whole, and pursue my current goal of obtaining a summer internship in 2017.

During the financial crisis in 2007/08, there was great adversity surrounding the industry andmany macroeconomic issues. Since then these have slowed but during this time, Morgan Stanley hasstood out and cemented its position as a market leader within the global banking model. John Mack’sleadership after the crash made way for the purchase of a majority stake in Salomon SmithBarney’s brokerage division and since then James Gorman’s inspirational leadership has allowed SmithBarney to integrate within its own wealth management business. For an aspiring graduate, this has setMorgan Stanley apart from its rivals as a well led institution. The ability of the company to grow andinnovate without increasing its risk provides an environment for an undergraduate like myself toexcel.

The spring insight at Morgan Stanley attracts me due to the wide range of industries I would getto observe, particularly mergers and acquisitions within Investment Banking. The currentbooming market within mergers and acquisitions has made deals “value creating”. The number of deals isalso now returning to pre-crisis levels making it one of the most interesting areas within investment banking.

I consider myself to be a well-rounded team player within any context and situation which I have shown through my extracurricular interests. My team working skills have been exhibited when playing for my school cricket club and working with young pupils as a mentor in Chemistry master classes has allowed me to further develop my communication skills. Writing for the RoyalEconomic Societies essay prize has allowed me to improve my analytical skills as well as my researchability. My Degree (International Business, Finance and Economics) requires much evaluative work from an array of literature.

Finally I pursue my own interest in Investment Banking through my membership of the MUTIS investment banking club where I recently delivered a presentation of the recent merger of Delland EMC.

I hope that at an interview I can express my interest for the spring insight and I look forward to hearing from you.

YoursSincerely Shamil Gokani
