Sample cover letter for Internship position at KPMG
Intern
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing to express my interest in an internship position within the Transactions and Restructuring department that was posted on the website. Being a successful business school undergraduate I see myself as having already developed a strong academic and interpersonal background that, in my opinion, is sufficient to equip me well for the practical aspects of the role advertised.
I first became interested in working for KPMG through attending a series of career presentations made by top global employers at the London Recruitment Fair. One of the talks given by your UK colleague had a profound effect on my prevailing career aspirations, therefore leading me to feel that becoming a part of one of the most influential global business shapers is a golden opportunity to seize. Having been successively establishing its credentials as one of the world most attractive employers, KPMG’s focus on building the diverse and trust-worthy communication channels, to my mind, is sure to result in the most fruitful professional collaboration, especially for the committed challenge-lovers who I truly see myself to be. Coupled with the long-lasting pursuit of excellence and an interdisciplinary approach representative of the company, I believe that working within the Advisory division in particular is the optimal way to get a genuine actionable insight into the operation of the company I long to make my career with.
Working in a dynamic and ever changing environment has always been something that I found hugely enjoyable and stimulating. Having occupied a position of the Financial Manager Assistant in the small-size retail company, I have successfully gained my first business-related experience. By working closely on the financial matters of the company, not only have I proven to be a result-driven, quick-learning and self-disciplined individual, but also have improved my understanding of the wider client-oriented environment in which the organization operated. On the one hand, being a proactive student I have taken on a role of the Treasurer in societies at the university, which helped me to advance in my teamwork and communication skills. On the other hand, the continuous participation enabled me to learn how to solve the most challenging problems most efficiently and in a timely fashion as well as to think flexibly by developing a wider multiple-perspective outlook. Furthermore, having enrolled myself into one of the most difficult Maths-intense Business school modules, I managed to compete successfully against the native speakers, thus, showing enough talent, commitment and determination to come to the alumni top.
I firmly believe that my professional and academic qualifications make me well suited for the internship role at KPMG, and I am confident that I will fit in very well with the chosen department. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
