POSITION:

Consulting

GOT THE JOB? Yes

Dear Sir or Ma’am,

Application for Intern - Management Consulting (IT Enabled Transformation) (768)

I am keen in joining KPMG as a management consulting intern (IT enabled transformation), which I have become aware of from the career fair in Norway. Currently I am on my third year exchange programme in Handelshøyskolen BI, Oslo ending in December 2013. I pursue a major in Maritime Studies, a well-balanced shipping and business curriculum, in Singapore Nanyang Technological University, graduating in June 2015. As I plan to venture into a fast-changing working environment, I have honed several competencies through my experiences in CCA’s, internships and self-learning over the past few years. Some relevant ones are:

lCommodity Knowledge – During my internship in the maritime company, I was involved in meetings with major commodity traders with cargo commodities including cotton, cocoa, timber, and palm oil. Through customer-facing activities and strategic dialogues, I acquired better understanding of various industry practices and the role of IT in their business. My additional knowledge in shipping logistics will add valuable insights for enterprise content management.

lFamiliarity with Risk Analysis using MS Excel –Driven by my major of study, I practiced extensively in risk analysis through in-class case study. By completing a business reporting and analytics module on MS Excel in school, coupled with the extensive use of it during my internship, I became proficient in MS Excel. These skills are transferrable to leverage IT solutions to help clients realize their business goals.

lCommunication Skills – Tasked to manage interface with external organization and agents for funding support, sponsorship and partnership, I was trained to articulate information confidently and effectively. Effective communication would help to gain a deep understanding of clients’ business goals so as to deliver an effective technology strategy solution supporting their objectives timely.

With my business and commercial maritime background, I look forward to develop a career involves management consulting and technology services, from analyzing clients’ current systems to delivering innovative IT solutions. Thus, I find the KPMG management consulting intern position very alluring.

I have worked in with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and my passion to pursue additional commitment and knowledge differentiates me from others. My value-adding capability is evidenced by recommendation and transfer to my part-time job company by my supervisor after my internship. Coupled with the relevant competencies, I believe I can contribute positively to the KPMG team.

I look forward to an opportunity to work with the KPMG team, which I hope is the beginning of a rewarding journey ahead.

Yours sincerely,

xxx
