Sample cover letter for Internship position at KPMG

POSITION:

Investigation Intern

am writing to express my interest in the Investment Banking Summer Analyst Position. I am currently a Finance and Accounting major at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, with a concentration in tax and economics. My expected date of graduation is in May of 2015. Based on my previous work experience and academic background I believe I possess the skills necessary to be a competitive candidate for this role.

During the summer of 2013, I had the tremendous opportunity to work in the Wealth Management Department of Northwestern Mutual. I worked with a team of six interns led by a Managing Director of Investment Portfolios for the Director’s myriad of clients. We conducted market research, budget reports, budget forecasts, and answered any general questions that clients presented to us. I thrived working in a highly competitive, fast-paced financial environment where I was challenged on a daily basis.

I have had several opportunities to establish, develop, and broadcast my leadership skills within the local community as well as Syracuse University. I was elected onto the Executive Board of my fraternity as the treasurer because of my attention to detail and strong organizational skills. As the treasurer, I have learned to prepare and review financial statements for the Inter Fraternity Council, and prepare the annual budget of $8,000 which involves the allocation of our funds across all the departments to optimize the use of our capital. I worked hand-in-hand with the other executive board members, and implemented a security plan to ensure the collection of every member’s dues. I also prepared and presented the monthly financial reports to all members to provide them with knowledge of our budget allocations. Through this experience, I have learned not only the importance of being detail-oriented, but also the importance of working in teams to ensure an organization’s success.

Through these experiences, I have learned how to build and develop my own leadership qualities. I strongly believe that coming on board with The Jordan, Edmiston Group will be mutually beneficial. If you have any questions regarding my background, please feel free to reach me directly by phone at (555) 222-9999 or by email at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your consideration.
