Sample cover letter for Internship position at Kiersted

My name is _____ and I’m a junior at UCI, currently studying for my B.S. in Computer Science. It was great to meet you and your colleague from Kiersted Systems at the UCI Career Fair.

I have extensive programming experience in a wide range of coding languages – such as C++, JavaScript and Python – and am confident that I will be able to effectively apply my skills at Kiersted. Because of my strong object-oriented background in languages like C++ and Java, I was able to work with the ATLAS Collaboration in building models and simulations for dark matter detection at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. I dealt with an enormous amount of collision information from the LHC dataset and had to design quick and effective ways to sift through all the data in order to locate intriguing collision events. I believe my experience in working with ATLAS can be a great asset to Kiersted’s data analytics efforts, which I am very interested in being a part of.

In addition to my solid computer science skillset, I pride myself in being a self-starter and am always driven to learn new skills if the need arises. Furthermore, I possess strong program solving capabilities, which I believe are integral to a successful performance in software development and data analytics.
