Sample cover letter for Internship position at LEAP Energy

POSITION:

Programmer

GOT THE JOB? Yes

Dear Madam,

I am a master’s student in École Centrale Paris, France. I am looking for an internship in oil and gas, for at least six months, starting next August. This is why I am contacting you.

I am considering a career in oil and gas industry right after my graduation. This is why I want deepen my knowledge and expertise in this industry, and to have an overview of the challenges it is facing. I found out, through your website and the discussions I had with some of your ex-interns, that you are a “family” where dynamic and helpful people enjoy what they are doing. This makes me believe that interning in Leap Energy would be a wonderful experience, but also a chance for me to use my knowledge and personal character to add value.

In fact, through my studies, I have acquired programming skills in the C language and python, studied mechanical engineering courses, and developed good interpersonal skills. I am a dynamic fast learner and a hardworking person. I believe that teamwork and cooperation add value while developing the team members’ skills. I have worked for five months in a team, with researchers from France and Taiwan, to design the chain of energy for a small satellite, and even though I am not in the project any more, I am still in contact with them and respond to all of their inquiries. Moreover, during my team projects, I showed the ability to organise the team, to listen to every member, and to create an atmosphere of fun while perfectly getting work done. In addition, my responsibilities and involvement in the students’ societies, like the Debating Club, gave me a sense of leadership, reasoning and communication skills.

Being available to provide you with any complementary information, I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your time.

Yours sincerely
