POSITION:

BUSINESS CONSULTANT

Dear xyz (recruiting manager's name),

I am a full time M.Sc. Management student at the Imperial College, London, learning cardinal conceptuality of today's global business environment, writing to apply for the position of business analyst intern at your coveted firm. While researching Mckinsey & Co. I happened to espy one of the articles explicating and articulating the pivotal insight on rendering distinctive and individualised customer experience by anticipating their desires. The study also adduced the reasons behind incumbents pushing boundaries and adopting next-gen digital thinking for efficient conveyance of customer services. Being a service industry enthusiast and confining the consistent urge to learn and evolve accordingly induced me to further look-up for the internship with the firm. Also, the innovative approach of the dynamic and collaborative research teams to render exclusively crafted frameworks in order to solve client's problems is what furthermore encouraged me to relate to Mckinsey's values and apply for the listed position.

I reckon that both my academic profile and noetic skills seamlessly create a coherent blend of generalist plus specialist knowledge and abilities desired in a consulting personnel. My civil engineering studies have equipped me with strong mathematical aptitude and problem solving attitude along with expert and cognitive knowledge of a variety of subjects which emphatically would prove to be of vital importance serving as a business analyst intern with Mckinsey and Co. Also, the three months of industrial training in a construction company bootstrapped me with deeper understanding of putting virtually abstract designs to practicality. Besides evolving technically, this internship permitted me to showcase my entrepreneurial drive through the introduction of realistically more ecological and economical construction models. Was also acknowledged as the most punctual intern backed by my substantial time management skills and competency to adhere to company policies.

Apart from the internship pertaining to my own major, I also followed a long time yearn to be a pedagogue and impart the knowledge that I embraced. Acting as an educator catapulted my leadership and organisational abilities. It also ignited the desire to be a lifelong assimilator, a trait that coincides with the common qualities found in Mckinsey's people vindicating my candidature consummate for the firm. Being sole obligatory body for the future of the class of 100+ scholars further pushed me to derive strategically balanced approach towards the profession led by the formulation of advanced team management criteria for effective team management, which gained me valuable commendations.

Moreover, persisting profound passion for client service oriented industry, directed me towards the most dynamic and vibrant industry of hospitality. My three months of internship at a downtown hotel rendered me with the spirit of teamwork, enthusiasm and the most indispensable attribute of networking and being affable towards clients and teammates. Interning at different levels with people from varied disciplines presented me with a holistic view of diverse hotel operations germinating a keen sense of product development and marketing standards. Hospitality being an industry based on strong analytical ,anticipating and problem solving skills closely resembles consultancy business in this regard, allowed me to develop a better understanding of such inevitable service traits. Being a matter of primal prominence, representing as the face of the hotel required me to interact with a heterogeneous mix of guests and industrial counterparts. This alleviated the evolution of a sense of maintaining and nurturing interpersonal relationships at different levels in the business, highly relevant to be a Mckinsey and Co. personnel. The internship also extended a deeper insight on leading team projects, research applications, sales and marketing analysis, and effectuating creative presentations, qualities pertinent to a business analyst's job specifications.

A career in management consultancy is distinguished by acknowledging each client as a separate entity and providing exclusive solutions to cater to their needs. Mckinsey and Co. following their carefully formulated work ethics and culture in client service industry has continued to preside over its global competitors. Despite of the fact that Mckinsey and Co. stands at the vanguard of the management consultancy services ,it isn't the sole reason behind my curiosity in eyeing Mckinsey as my prospective employer. After conducting an elaborated research focused on Mckinsey's values, notable works, application of developmental tools such as Periscope and OHI, employer-employee relationship, work-life balance and also the contribution towards the betterment of the encompassing society, I have come to form the opinion that Mckinsey and Co. is the place where I can treasure and execute my personal values and professional goals in coherence with the firm's values and missions.

During my time in my hometown while pursuing graduation, I served as an active volunteer of a local start up NGO focused on enlightening the ignorant minds of stray children. For the expansion of which, I collaboratively proposed and executed several marketing plans which involved orchestrating flash mobs and organising street meets to name a few. I zealously appreciate Mckinsey's social initiative 'Generation' and believe that many of my beliefs and values correlate with that of the Firm's. Given a chance to join as an intern ,I would contribute to the firm's professional and social values with the similar enthusiasm as I have contributed to the NGO's and would make the best out of the firm's permissiveness and support to endeavour my own passion and help others.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to the opportunity of securing an interview at your firm.

Yours Faithfully,
