Sample cover letter for Full Time position at MMC Architects

POSITION:

Intern architect

October 8th, 2016

Architecture, as per me, is a collaborative process that plays a pivotal role in shaping our society and environmental conditions. This drives me to be a part of a design team that works to deliver buildings with the highest human environment. Therefore, I am eager to be a part of MMC Architects as an Intern Architect, because I strongly feel that it would be a great opportunity to learn more about the same.

Expecting to graduate in December 2016, presently I am pursuing my Master of Architecture from the John H Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at University of Toronto.

Currently, I am working with MJ | architecture in Toronto, since May 2016 as a trainee. Prior to my admission into the Master’s program at University of Toronto, I worked with Suresh Goel & Associates and Shekhawat & Associate Architects, India, as a professional and a trainee respectively, where I worked on institutional, retail and mid- rise residential projects. These opportunities helped me understand professional attributes like complete projects on time and within budget. The positions helped make me adept at various rendering and publishing softwares.

As a graduate student at University of Toronto, my thesis investigates the socio-economic factors governing the energy efficient architecture of tropical regions (aesthetics + cost optimisation + energy efficiency). This stems from my understanding that to make energy efficient constructions popular among the majority of the exploding population, it is necessary that they be cost effective. I find the internship program at Perkins + Will, who values wellness and design, and innovation, as an exciting platform to gain exposure to the real world problems in this regard.
