I would like to work in an environment where intellectual curiosity is encouraged and where graduates can contribute by talking openly about ideas and opinions. After researching about recent graduate experiences on the program it is evident that the program is not like the average graduate program. Graduates are exposed to all levels of management at an early stage where they can learn from experienced professionals where ideas are welcomed regardless of experience. Man group’s unique culture and transparency is an aspect of the program that I find very attractive.

Over the last 9 months, I set out to start my own construction business. With no knowledge in construction I was quickly able to secure £300,000 of contracts within two months. The largest contract involved joint bay excavation and reinstatement of 52 kilometers of 132,000 volts cabling. This was the company's first contract with a reputable utility company, therefore expectations had to be exceeded to ensure repeat custom and business development. Four weeks into the contract a squad member accidentally severed a live high voltage cable bringing the entire project to a halt. In order to save the contract and our business relationship I visited the site the next day with two new squads at my own expense. The new squads worked ahead to ensure the project would be back up to speed once the repair was carried out. As a result, the client was back on target to meeting the deadline without any extra costs incurred. From this experience I learned how to solve problems under pressure and take responsibility for others actions. I feel this experience has developed my people skills making me adaptable and pragmatic when viewing a problem from the client's perspective.
