Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Master program

POSITION:

student

31 March 2014

European Investment Bank
Staffing Division
100, boulevard Konrad Adenauer
L-2950 Luxembourg

To Whom it may concern,

I am a Master in Finance student at Collegio Carlo Alberto (CORIPE) and would like to be considered for the European Investment Bank GRAD Programme. Claudio Zucca (Financial Strategy Officer) has held a course in Applied Credit Derivatives at my university and shared many exciting stories with me and my colleagues about the daily working life at EIB and its dynamic multicultural environment: it sounds very attractive.

Last year I completed an internship at KPMG Advisory Spa, which gave me the chance to participate to projects in three Italian major banks. In particular, I worked in the “rating process” team producing relevant documentation for the implementation of rating systems into the banks’ credit-lending process Moreover, I compiled the so-called “Rating Handbook” related to the quantitative models used to assign ratings to “SME Corporate” segment of loan portfolio. Finally, I was involved in the preliminary assessment of regulatory compliance of credit rating assignment systems. These experiences boosted my analytical and problem solving skills and provided me with a strong background in the methodologies required for successfully analyzing and synthesizing important financial information and in preparing documentation to assist management when making critical business decisions, whilst also allowing me to hone my leadership skills in a team-oriented framework.

With my economics background, analytical skills and results-driven focus, I feel that the GRAD Programme (Transaction Monitoring and Restructuring Directorate) at EIB is a natural fit. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Mark Munich
