Re: Instructor/Tutor - Mathnasium
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am a student at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management with a specialist in Finance and Economics currently in 2nd year. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to submit an application for the position at Mathnasium for tutoring. I am pleased to say that I possess various skills and relevant experience that will allow me to excel in this position. I wish to add that I have a proven track record with proficiency in Mathematics and teaching. As you will notice on my resume, I achieved a high 90 averages over my high school career in Math. However, I understand that tutoring also includes other aspects such as interpersonal skills, clear communication and ability to teach, which I possess and have previously demonstrated in extra-curriculars and my academic record.
First and foremost, I wish to highlight through my previous and recent accomplishments that I possess sufficient knowledge to succeed in the position. As seen on my resume, I have achieved honour roll throughout high school and also had high 90 averages in math courses (including upper year functions, calculus and vectors). I also received a 90 in my first year university Math (4.0) with near 100% on the final exam. Furthermore, I participated in G.A.U.S.S and Waterloo University Math competitions throughout my elementary and high school years. I created a strong knowledge base and practiced Math enough to now be able to proficiently solve complex world problems, probabilities, statistics, integrals, derivatives etc. at the university level. For these reasons and many more, I am confident that I will excel in this position.
In addition to this, I have previously tutored privately and in school because I was recommended by teachers for a tutoring program. My students have consistently shown improvement and have always left positive feedback. I am known as a friendly, well-spoken individual with great interpersonal skills. Previously, I authored various news articles for the Milton Canadian Champion newspaper. I was also elected President of my high school and I was also elected a representative to carry student voice on issues to the board of education.
Lastly, I have a strong passion for Math and I believe that even if it is irrelevant to one’s future career, Math is used in daily life, helps to build analytical and critical thinking skills; therefore, I believe it should be taught and learned by all. I look forward to meeting with you to further discuss why my relevant skills and experience can be an asset to Mathnasium.
Thank you,
