Subject: Jr. Customer Support Consultant position
Dear Mr. XXX
I am a fourth-year international student at McGill University majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in finance, set to graduate in May 2016. I am in possession of qualities and skills, as a person and an engineer, which would prove very useful to your department.
Throughout my extensive international experiences (I lived a year in Washington DC, three years in Douala, Cameroun, three years in Quito, Ecuador, eight years in France, and six months in Singapore), I developed capabilities such as adaptation to different cultures, interpersonal skills, and became completely bilingual in French and English, as well as proficient in Spanish. Throughout my studies at McGill University, I perfected my skills as an engineer and knowledge of software tools. I also managed to maintain a high academic level while simultaneously pursuing extra-curricular projects, honing my time-management aptitudes and learning how to handle many responsibilities.
Furthermore, my experience at the World Bank enabled me to work under the pressure of deadlines. Creating a network of donations for the project I was a part of, while monitoring several donation shipments, educated me on how to simultaneously handle multiple responsibilities. Being in constant interaction with operation managers helped me understand the logistics and obligations related to supervising shipments and supply chains, such as being organized, clear, disciplined and effective. It also revealed that I possess such qualities. Moreover, my work there required me to be able to quickly resolve issues and answer questions both on phone and in person, which gave me an appropriate experience for this position.
Throughout my involvements inside and outside of McGill University, I have grown both as a person and as an engineer. I have faced challenges as a member, and as a leader of a team, expanding my interpersonal and leadership capabilities. Starting a yearlong team project involving biomedical engineering and 3D printing that has never been done before, I have learned how to take initiative and be independent from advisors and superiors.
While my resume summarizes my capabilities and achievements, I would be honored to meet with you for an interview to talk about my desire to work with you and how I could be an asset to the ICS Service desk. Thank you for this opportunity to present my candidature. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions regarding my application.
Sincerely,
