I am a Fourth year undergraduate student pursuing my bachelor degree in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur writing to apply for job in Mckinsey and Company. Exploring Mckinsey, I was impressed by the culture at the firm and the way in which it approaches problems. Rather than try to fit problems into existing frameworks, teams at Mckinsey have a tendency to look at each problem from a fresh and build a solution from the ground up. I am keen to gain a deeper insight into a career as a management consultant due to its intellectual rigor and have decided to apply to Mckinsey because of its global presence, reputation for excellence and its commitment to thought leadership.

I believe that both my educational and professional backgrounds have well prepared me for the analytical challenges that are faced in this industry. Last summer, I gained a 2 months internship at Azure Power India Private Limited where I analysed various Parameters to develop a financial bidding model for the company,Also I have experience at ICICI Prudential Co. ltd. where I made financial plans for different policies. Where I developed a deeper understanding of marketing of these policies. Moreover I have also worked as Quantitative researcher in World Quant LLC where I learned about the science of Predictive Quantitative Modelling of Financial Instruments and different stock Market strategies to enhance the performance of various Financial Instruments by maximizing Returns and Sharpe Ratio. I led a team as student manager in Entrepreneurship cell, IIT Kharagpur where I Associated with International Business Model Competition (IBMC) headed by Stanford University, Harvard University and Brigham Young University and thus introduced Business Model Competition in India for the first time. Moreover worked on a consulting project and represented IIT Kharagpur internationally in phoenix, Arizona (USA) at SDC 2016(only team from Asia to qualify) where we presented a comprehensive plan to the board on how to make the operation profitable & functional , I worked within a team to create a presentation to senior directors developing interpersonal and teamwork skills which are of the utmost importance to Mckinsey as all work is carried out it teams as now I lead this chapter to represent IIT Kharagpur next year in Denver,USA.

A career in management consultancy is characterised by the tackling of a wide variety of business problems using analytical and reasoning skills to provide solutions for clients. One of the things which attracted me to this profession is the variety enjoyed by working across numerous industries and the opportunity to make a real impact in shaping these industries.

Finally, I have enjoyed looking over the numerous practice cases found on the Mckinsey website specifically the designing of a product launch of a new flavored sports drink with reduced sugar. I would welcome the opportunity to learn more about management consulting and the opportunities that Mckinsey could afford me in the future.
