Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Mitsubishi

Dear Sir/Madam,

During my internship at Bank of America Merrill Lynch I realised what it meant to work for a top tier financial institution, and that the experience, fulfilment and most importantly enjoyment I gained from being in such an environment is something I intend to achieve again. Mitsubishi UFJ Securities is the European hub of one of the largest financial institutions in the world – Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. Having worked with the financial captives of automobile firms previously, during my experience at BoAML, this opportunity is of particular interest to me. Furthermore, with Mitsubishi being one of the most trusted and respected institutions in existence (demonstrated by its excellent credit rating), coupled with the tradition it has for nurturing young and talented individuals meant that the opportunity to apply to the firm was something I could not pass up.

I have recently graduated with a BSc Hons in Economics from the University of Nottingham and am looking to continue my career in the financial industry – having, in the previous summer, completed an internship at BoAML in their Credit Risk Department. During my time there I developed skills that are key to being successful in the any banking environment. These include my analysis of financial instruments in both a quantitative (through historical, cash-flow and ratio analysis) and qualitative (via geographical and industrial legislation and regulation) manner; my abilities to research and come up to speed on a particular corporate client and their industry as a whole and my aptitude to respond rapidly and think independently when it comes to researching movements that could affect a client’s ability to meet their obligations.

Furthermore, traditionally to be successful in any banking platform the key skills of being an adept communicator and forging strong and trustworthy relationships with clients have been valuable. I believe my time in customer-focused sectors, such as retail and catering, have enabled me to develop my interpersonal skills and communicate efficiently and network effectively with those around me, building a rapport with locals and regulars. Furthermore from my experience at Bank of America I have demonstrated I can do this in a professional environment while remaining committed to the job in hand.
