I came across Morgan Stanley’s advertisement of recruiting Quantitative Finance PhD Sponsorship Programme with great interest. I have recently submitted my thesis for a PhD degree in Engineering from University of Warwick and I am willing to start working for this position at your convenience.

I have gained solid fundamental mathematics principles and methods from the modules of my undergraduate where I obtained a first honours degree in engineering from University of Birmingham. During the period of my PhD study, I have largely improved my ability to apply various mathematical methods to establish different models and solve numerical problems in Matlab.

I have been employed as a research assistant, which required me to collaborate with a manufacturing company and work with a team of engineers and managers to analyse the functionality of their product quantitatively. I conducted my research by modelling the product in Matlab on a daily basis and developed an algorithm to quantify and compute the hidden indexes of the product. I also implemented this algorithm into a microchip via C programming, which carries out the computation and displays the indices of interest. After validation through experiments, it now helps the company to convince potential customers and promote the sales.

In addition, my experience with the company increased my commercial awareness and motivated my interest in business and finance. As a person with a strong sense of curiosity, I started to learn financial theory myself and it is really fascinating to realize that mathematic and programming skills can help conduct a diversity of financial researches. I am very confident that my skills and experience make me a good candidate for this position. I wish to be a part of team with intelligent colleagues and contribute my very best to your company.
