Sample cover letter for Internship position at Morgan Stanley
Summer Analyst
Hiring Committee Morgan Stanley
1585 Broadway
New York, NY 10036
Dear Hiring Committee,
As a third year student at Barnard College of Columbia University majoring in Physics and Economics, I would like to be considered for Morgan Stanley’s 2016 Finance Summer Analyst Program. I found out about the program through Morgan Stanley’s career website and was eager to learn about the exciting career opportunities the company has to offer. With my valuable leadership and work experiences as well as my quantitative and analytical skills, I am a good fit for Morgan Stanley’s Analyst Program and dynamic culture.
As an intern in the Private Banking department at Credit Suisse, I researched stocks within the Insurance Sector and prepared reports on the potential growth of the insurance sector in India. I was able to analyze client needs and work towards addressing issues in a timely manner. I also interned at a startup called TranServ and assisted in building a financial model for the firm which taught me to understand consumer needs and anticipate future trends.
Additionally, I have been involved in the Barnard Student Government Association, serving as the treasurer for the Campus Life Committee and as Secretary of my Class Council for two years. This year, I act as a member of the Executive Board as part of my duties as Vice President for Campus Life. This position has taught me the importance of teamwork in achieving goals and extraordinary time management. Through these leadership roles, I have been able to balance multiple responsibilities concurrently, which requires attention to detail and ability to delegate tasks effectively.
Morgan Stanley’s commitment to service projects and sustainability directly correlates with my personal volunteer initiatives: ‘Donate a PC’, Garbage Disposal Program and work with the Akanksha Foundation. I created and implemented programs to improve community education and teach sustainability and hygiene to low-income families. With my various leadership experiences and ability to take on multiple tasks at once, I am a good fit for the Finance Summer Analyst Program. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
