Dear HR Representative:
I am writing to apply for the Wealth Management Summer Analyst position. I am currently a junior at the University of Whoville, where I am majoring in Finance. After interning at Bank XYZ, I believe that when I graduate, I would like to work exclusively with individuals and their investments. During my time at Bank XYZ I worked with senior members to help them gather information for portfolios and gain new clients. The major contribution that I provided was generating new leads to persuade high net worth clients to allow Bank XYZ to finance their companies and their new ventures through the daunting task of cold calling, which taught me to be resilient and persistent
During both my freshman and sophomore years I balanced taking fifteen to nineteen credits per semester while tutoring high school students whose parents privately approached me for AP and SAT help. Tutoring involves developing creative methods to teach students. It was extremely rewarding to see students’ progress, and watch the way they flourished through our time together. In addition to tutoring, volunteering helped me develop the interpersonal, soft, and technical skills needed to succeed in a business environment. I have been volunteering for non-profit organizations such as The American Red Cross, Harlem Soup Kitchen, and the Diabetes foundation for the last four years. Volunteering at the soup kitchen teaches me patience and is extremely humbling. Humbleness is a quality that is sometimes overlooked in business environments; however, Morgan Stanley takes pride in giving back. The fact that Morgan Stanley encourages employees to take entire days to volunteer instead of going to the office shows the commitment that the company has in giving back to the community. My best friend who interned at Morgan Stanley last summer spoke of the sense of comradery and involvement she felt during character building activities outside the workplace, such as company softball games. She felt valued and involved in the workplace, which is not a common response from young interns in fast-paced, competitive environments. I am looking to be involved in Morgan Stanley’s extracurricular activities, as well as gain opportunities to network within the firm and become a more involved individual.
I am very involved on the University of Whoville campus, and I was also extremely dedicated to my commitments at Anywhere University, the school that I transferred from last year. I was a senator for the Student Government Association, a co-leader of the French Club, and an active member of the Whoville University Investment Group, all during my freshman year of college. I am one of the most involved members of the Entrepreneurship Club and I have continued my commitment to the American Red Cross at the University, both at the University of Whoville I am passionate about writing, which is reflected in my published works. Writing is an extremely important agent of communication, which is one of, if not the most vital quality for success in the business world. In addition to writing, learning about different cultures through first-hand experience is a passion of mine. I lived in Copenhagen for three years, during which I was exposed to different cultures and ideologies. I am fluent in French and German, which was useful during my time at my internship where I found myself working under a French native.
This past summer I journeyed through Europe and Africa, both of which gave me opportunities to broaden my communication skills in a variety of ways, one of which was becoming more culturally sensitive. Application of my culturally diverse outlook will broaden my ability to interact with high net worth clients globally, making me the perfect candidate for a career in wealth management. I am extremely outgoing, and I adapt to new positions with ease. I would deeply appreciate the opportunity to prove to you that I would be a beneficial addition to the company. Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you.
Warmest Regards,
John Doe
