Sample cover letter for Internship position at Morgan Stanley

POSITION:

Analyst

Dear Sir / Madam,

Please accept my candidature for the position “Off-Cycle Internship - Global Capital Markets”.

I am confident, that with my multicultural background, combined with an international education, I will be an asset to Morgan Stanley. Moreover, my language skills in English, French, Farsi and Italian will help me interact with and understand the needs of clients from various cultures.

I am a recent graduate of Bocconi University of Milan, where I studied International Economics, Management and Finance with a major in Management. There I was first introduced to the world of capital markets. Since then, I have been fascinated by their complexity and dynamic nature. I am eager to learn how an institution like Morgan Stanley advises its clients, whether they are in the process of raising capital or making investments.

I have relevant professional experience that I gained during an internship at CIC, a commodity trading company based in Geneva. There I learned that rigour and motivation are critical to success in a professional environment. This internship also enabled me to apply some of the skills I learned at university, such as financial modelling on Excel.

I also gained valid work experience during an internship at the manufacturing firm GAMMA, where I was exposed to the entire chain of this company, from manufacturing, packaging and selling, to the negotiation process with clients and suppliers. In addition, I was asked to perform a variety of different roles, such as managing costs to designing the company catalogue. I welcomed these challenges and learned quickly how to combine efficiency with delivering high quality results, in a very high-pressure environment.

As one of the world’s leading financial institutions, and given its admirable reputation for training young graduates, I am very keen to be part of the Morgan Stanley trainee program. I believe that my enthusiasm and rigour, along with my determination to learn and perform, will help me not only succeed, but to thrive in this position.

I would be pleased to discuss my qualifications with you in more detail and importantly, learn more about what Morgan Stanley would expect from me.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
