My name is Evan Karatzas and I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Finance and Accounting at Nicholls State University in Louisiana, U.S.A. It is with great excitement that I am applying for the 2017 GCM Summer Analyst position at Morgan Stanley. Since its inception in 1935 Morgan Stanley has helped build economies through the mobilizing of capital in order to build sustainable growth and value. The impressive culture, working environment and loyalty that exists in your company is something I have read and heard very much about and I am wholeheartedly interested in partaking in the GCM Division and adding value to Morgan Stanley.

I have previously completed an internship at The Money Coaches in Melbourne, a financial services firm. Through this experience working directly with clients and their investments, I gained important analytical skills evaluating companies and honed my relationship building skills with clients improving my ability to efficiently manage multiple relationships. I also had the opportunity to work on reviewing the company portfolios asset allocation which was found to be slightly inefficient with its risk-return trade off.

My four years as an American student-athlete has developed my dedication, perseverance to a task and ability to hone my competitiveness to the betterment of the team. I was fortunate enough to be one of four students selected to the CFA Research Challenge where we were required to conduct a thorough valuation analysis of Ford Motor Co, and then present possible recommendations the firm could instill to improve performance. Our team finished in the top 10% of teams in the United States and in a credit to the creativity of my team our recommendation of Ford utilizing their economies of scale and streamlining their production of automobiles in order to cut costs is now being implemented by Ford with their One Ford Initiative.

Furthermore, since I was sixteen I have invested a fair portion of my savings in share markets and have developed certain techniques for processing information obtained from company financial statements. I have a very strong aptitude for this process and I would love the opportunity to further my education within this area and take my career to a new level under the Morgan Stanley tutelage.
