Sample cover letter for Internship position at NBA

POSITION:

Intern

Greetings,

This letter is to express my interest in the NBA U.S. Intern Program. I am a sophomore currently attending the University of Pennsylvania studying Economics in the College of Arts & Sciences. As you’ll see within my resume, I believe that I have the necessary experience to be able to contribute in this position at the NBA.

As a lifelong fan of the NBA, working for a sports league of such stature has always been an aspiration of mine. When I came across the U.S Intern program, I figured it would be a sound opportunity for me to expand on my abilities and construct a solid professional foundation that I can continue to develop throughout my future career in the sports industry. As an excellent team player and a quick learner, my main goal is to cultivate my skills and progress toward becoming an even more valuable asset in the workplace.

Throughout my time at Penn, I have been involved in sports from a variety of different perspectives. In my freshman year, I worked for the Penn Quakers football team as an assistant video coordinator. I had daily interaction with staff both on the team and in the athletics department, supporting them while they led the Quakers to their 17th Ivy League football title in 2015. From the extracurricular perspective, I am a member of both the men’s club lacrosse team and the Undergraduate Sports Business Club. The latter of the two is a part of the Wharton Sports Business initiative at Penn which is designed to give students more exposure to the sports industry. I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with the NBA Deputy Commissioner & COO, about what the experience is like working at the NBA headquarters.

Eagerly excited about the intern position, I appreciate your time in advance. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I can be reached at (xxx) xxx-xxxx or [email protected].
