Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to apply for the 2016 Internship Role in Audit at the National Audit Office. I am a third year BSc Economic History with Economics student at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and planning to pursue a Masters Degree in the next academic year. Please find my CV enclosed as requested.

I find it immensely important when assessing the suitability of an organisation to ensure that its values, vision and culture are in line with my own, to offer me the best environment to hone my skills and build a successful career. At the National Audit Office, its core vision of “helping the nation spend wisely”, by conducting impactful work that directly adds value to the government, is an element of the role that appeals to me enormously. According to TaxPayers Alliance wasteful spending by the public sector in the UK amounted to roughly £120billion. As a British citizen, I would highly value the responsibility of being part of an independent organisation that seeks to help the government spend more efficiently and wisely – helping to reduce the deficit without closing hospitals or schools. Moreover, the opportunity in gaining an understanding of the skills and capability needed to become a Chartered Accountant that is provided by this internship, confirmed my decision to apply for this role.
