To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my interest in the Full Time Long Term Substitute Art Teacher position in the New Paltz
Central School District. I am a New York State Certified Art Teacher, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and
Master’s Degree in Printmaking/Mixed Media Fine Art. My extensive hands-on teaching experience makes me
confident in my ability to become a valuable member of your academic team.
The enclosed resume highlights my career accomplishments and demonstrates my solid creative, instructional and
leadership capabilities. Since earning my degree in 2004, I have been afforded many rewarding opportunities
instructing diverse groups from children to adults, and as a result, have developed highly effective teaching
techniques and instructional methods. This allows me to educate all styles of learners, fostering fun and engaging
learning environments that effectively teaches art appreciation, promotes creativity, and encourages growth in
skills and independence.
Currently, I am the full time manager and art instructor at Fiber Flame, a walk-in art studio for all ages in
Rhinebeck, New York. My art expertise includes, but is not limited to drawing, painting, printmaking, collage,
sculpture, fiber arts, design, textiles, batik, screen-printing, sewing, jewelry design, metals, woodworking, and
paper-making. Though I absolutely adore my position running the art studio and instructing a diverse range of
artists and individuals, my true passion and ultimate career goal is to teach students new art skills and techniques
in a school setting. I am eager to work with students to nurture their creative skills, as well as aid in the
development of your art program.
As a lifelong learner, educator and working artist, I strive to nurture and awaken creativity through the process of
making of art. I am inspired and ready to embark on a new challenge. I believe that a positive experience in art
education benefits students no matter what their futures hold. My creative energy, commitment to excellence,
and infinite desire to grow gives me the confidence to contribute to your academic team and educational mission.
The importance of art in everyday life and the impact it has on our daily lives continues to drive my fervor and
inspire my students to take an interest in the value of art in their immediate and greater communities.
I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how my strong work ethic and unique skill set would
benefit your academic program. Thank you for your time and consideration; I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
