Dear Sir / Madam,
My name is ____ and I am a second year economics student at the University of Warwick. I was impressed by how passionately Nomura employees spoke about the corporation at the City and Finance Fair. The entrepreneurial meritocracy of Nomura is particularly attractive as an environment where displaying corporate responsibility and delivering exceptional results leads to reward is one that I would like to contribute to. After being chosen to coordinate share sales including Japan Post Holdings Co.’s initial public offering, I realise Nomura will provide me with a rich learning experience. The emphasis on delivering superior, innovative solutions to build long-term client relationships is commendable, and it is a corporation with such a clear, stable vision that I would like to start and end my professional career with.
I have applied to Investment Banking because I want to be challenged daily by an industry that lends itself to those who enjoy immediate responsibility. The potential opportunity to work in teams to advise, create and execute solutions for high-profile clients is something that genuinely excites me. The notion of immediately being given important tasks appeals to me as I enjoy the sense of responsibility that comes with being an integral member of a team. Furthermore, I take great pleasure in working with numbers and would love to expand this into a deep understanding of financial modelling. The client facing, relationship building nature of the work is also particularly attractive as I enjoy creating networks.
Whether in my current role as an Economics Student Mentor or as co-chairman of my school economics society, I have always strived to lead people and develop relations through mutual respect. Working as a hotel receptionist I developed these interpersonal skills into negotiation skills by selling rooms. Finally, I have demonstrated innate analytical proficiency as I have achieved four gold awards in the UKMT Maths Challenges.
