Sales Assistant

To whom it may concern,

I am very excited about applying for the position as an Assistant Sales Manager with Nordea in Malmö. I attended the Investment Banking Forum at Lund University and was introduced to the possible roles, graduate programmes and internships with Nordea. I further contacted [Person] , Chief Sales Manager, for inquiries about the position and I was truly inspired to apply since the qualifications match my interest for the financial sector and academic experiences.

I am currently on the Masters in Economics at Lund University majoring in Financial Econometrics. I chose this fairly unusual major because I wanted a challenge myself, so I asked; What is the hardest thing to study at the department of Economics, so I combined econometrics with my interest for finance and macroeconomic events. I started to take an interest in finance by reading economic papers like Dagens Industri and The Economist, listening to investment podcast and engaging in finance societies. Needless to say, I am really passionate about the financial industry and having great understanding of the products offered in the Nordics is to my advantage.

What attracts me to work with investment sales is the opportunity to work together with businesses and private investors, close to where the action happens. My interest for the financial market from a macroeconomic perspective allows me to really understand and implement ideas about clients’ needs in order for them to obtain the highest value from their deal. There is a saying that “80 percent of company’s sales come from 20 percent of the customers” and since I value customer satisfaction, I always have this saying in mind when approaching clients.

The employees at Nordea is an aspect that inspired me to apply for the position, and the possibility to work with some of the best sales managers in southern Sweden is really an incentive for me to work really hard and perform well. On my participation on Stockholm Banking Tour I further got the impression that the culture with Nordea Markets seem to be embodied within the entire organisation and is a reason why I would like to become a part of the sales team. This was exemplified when Nordea representatives talked about activities employees do to get to know each other better. This aggregate to the impression that Nordea is a great organisation with employees dedicated to make sure it is the best Nordic bank.

Apart from studying, I am engaged on a lecture tour with Svenskt Näringsliv. The lecture is targeted at high-school students and aimed to discuss the Swedish welfare system and how the economy linktogether. What I learnt most from the tour is not only how to deliver a message but also how to really understand what the client needs and might understand. I could go on and talk about technical stuff but that might just confuse the students. So instead, I had to adapt the lecture in a fashion, which satisfies the students. This demonstrates that I appreciate customer satisfaction. Performing over a hundred lectures I consider myself to have great communication skills. And that is what sales are about, delivering a message and to make sure that the recipient is satisfied with the result.

But note, I am also a person, which means I have interests and hobbies. I enjoy sports, both executing and watching. I have played football professionally with Malmö FF and became Swedish Youth Champions in 2010. Now however, my spare time is mostly spent on road cycling, a hobby that suits well here in Scania because of the wide plains and beautiful fields. I am also fond of cooking, which is strange considering I did not know the difference between ground beef and ground pork when I moved out from my parents house.

With this in mind I am confident that I would be a great candidate to the position as an Assistant Sales Manager with Nordea Markets in Malmö.
