I am writing this letter to express my strong interest in your advertised position as
Senior Business Analyst because I possess the qualities and skills that you have described in your job description and am very keen to apply these skills to a new field.

As a structural analysis engineer working with offshore structures I have acquired considerable experience working with data analysis and state of the art analysis tools. Since my job also involves understanding the random processes of ocean waves and weather, I possess a good understanding of statistics because statistics is the basic tool used to generate models. Due to the complex nature of the work and the large amount of data involved, I have learned to develop efficient methods to challenge, analyse and visualize the data to identify possible areas were greater efficiency can be achieved and to find sources of errors. This has become second nature to me, and I naturally apply this approach to a variety of problems, such as using programming languages like Python and VBA to clean and sort historical data from the company’s registers in order to identify trends in financial performance of different business areas.

In addition to my day-to-day analysis work, I also have experience project managing a variety of jobs with a values ranging from £10,000 - £200,000. I have been responsible for adhering to tight deadlines and reporting progress and results on a regular basis on these jobs. This has provided me with significant experience writing both more scientific and technical reports as well as “executive level” presentations that I have delivered personally to senior management on many occasions.
