Why I am interested in this job:
First, I am very interested in finance, and this interest motivates me to choose Financial Mathematics as my second major. I believe this intern could equip me with practical skills as well as enrich my financial knowledge. Moreover, the experience to work in a bank and to see how it functions is very attractive to me. Secondly, I can learn a lot, both in life and work, from experienced seniors in OCBC in this six-month period. Thirdly, the required skills like knowledge in derivatives etc. are relevant to what I am learning in school; hence this is a great opportunity for me to utilize the knowledge learnt in school in reality.
Trained in relative areas:
Two-years training in Statistics, Mathematics and Financial Mathematics equips me with basic financial knowledge and strong math as well as statistics background. Moreover, I have taken a basic accounting course, from which I learnt how to prepare reports or statements resulting from financial accounting and use them for decision-making.
Good technical skills:
I have been trained to do analysis using R, SAS, and SPSS languages. I learned VBA on quantitative finance courses and I have done a project using VBA. In addition, I am familiar with Python Programming and possess good analysis skills. Although I may not know all the techniques required, I am always willing to acquire them by self-learning and practice them in the real life.
A diligent student:
Learning is a self-enrichment process for me and I enjoy learning new knowledge with enthusiasm. In addition, I am responsible and careful with my work, and I try to finalize my work with perfection and correctness as possible as I can in my daily life. Moreover, I can work under multiple tasks, and the pressure of multitasking motivates me to work more efficiently.
A good team worker:
Successfully performed in several Chinese music galas as a member of Chinese orchestra, and worked as a team leader in several school data-analysis projects.
