I read with interest your posting for a Social and Gender Analyst. I am excited by this opportunity and I feel that my experience, education and excellent capabilities fit the type of person you are looking for to fill the position.

I obtained a PhD in Sociology, a Master of Art in Women studies and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Retail Management with excellent research credentials. An experienced qualitative researcher, and highly motivated with a passion for educating and empowering women to fulfil their potential in academia. In my own research I worked independently and conducted extensive field work including interviewing women in and around London and Oxford and led focus groups. The data was transcribed and analysed in order to write a detailed account of participants concerns and worries of the British Education System. My research goal was investigating the inequalities in education in terms of the intersectionality between gender, race and ethnicity of Black Caribbean students in particular women (mothers) and girls (daughters) within the British Education System. Another objective was to investigate the structural difficulties that may have hindered their progress in education.

A multi-skilled professional with experience both in further and higher education. I worked in a college of further education specifically with young and mature women as a project manager. This role managed people, resources and processes. The Project Definition Report for Jobs 4 the Girls Project written by me provided direction on the Equal Opportunity policies and practices and ensured it was an agenda item. In this role the delivery of contracts across the South East was carried out and keeping with the terms of reference of external funders. It was essential to liaise with project teams to ensure administrative task were delivered to a high standard, and delivered on time and in some cases to tight deadlines. I monitored, organised and co-ordinated with sub-contractors the delivery of South East Enterprise (SEE) courses across the South East of England and Oxford. On the SKILLS4JOBS project I assisted and mentored women with CV writing and finding appropriate work placements. These project were aimed at assisting and empowering women into non-traditional roles such as painting and decoration, construction, and setting up their own business (Social Enterprise).

I worked as a lecturer at my former university teaching the Foundation Degree course. This particular course was aimed at students who had not achieved the required grades to enter the university. The role involved assisting and mentoring students on this programme with their long term career plans in education. As a personal tutor I operated an open door policy and run drop-in sessions for advice and guidance. This role was very rewarding because I was able to influence a number of students into staying on in education.

I am passionate about education in particular the education of women and girls as they are often marginalised and polarised. It is my belief that through education women are more equipped and better able to make informed decisions. An independent thinker with the ability to work to tight deadlines. I am a highly skilled researcher with skills in NVIVO, SPSS, Microsoft Office, Word, Email, and Excel. It is fair to say that I am an excellent team member but equally organised and structured to work well on my own.
