My resume highlights my personal achievements in a diverse set of the industries. I worked for the Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders where I managed several dump truck loads and operated heavy equipment. I worked 12 hour days with fathers (ages 21-63) of diverse backgrounds in 100 degree weather 6 days a week. This environment broadened my perspective to a new reality of living conditions that I would never experience. I was surprised every day by what these men taught me through their work ethic and diverse skill set. Their true intelligence and sincerity did not fit the stereotype portrayed by wealthy Texas residents I had grown to believe. They obtained a skill set that was learned at a young age but not valued by society.

Construction workers by no means are unintelligent. They simply developed a different, less valued, skill set. I am interested in innovation because of the lack of technology in the classroom. I have found that the scope of technology in early childhood education is a niche market with unmet needs. My passion to innovate is rooted in the belief that our intelligence should not be measured by a test score rather our tangible accomplishments and experiences. I will exploit this by implementing a more hands-on curriculum which will provide opportunities for children, regardless of their background, to create and explore. Aside from developing a valued skill set, they will create a better financial situation not only for their future children but also for their retiring parents.
