Sample cover letter for Internship position at Omaze
Business Development Internship
Dear Hiring Manager:
It was such a pleasure meeting Briana Darensburg on Feb 19th, 2015. After speaking with Briana about her transition from TOMS to Omaze, I was reminded of Omaze’s humbling mission and understand why your unique and creative business model for charitable giving might change philanthropy forever. Additionally, your description of a chaotic, entrepreneurial and “never give up” work environment would be the perfect place for my passion, entrepreneurial spirit and strong desire to help people out.
I understand that innovation and collaboration are vital in the problem-solving process. In the past, I have worked on multiple campaigns to raise money and awareness for a variety of causes - water conservation in CA, the Bhopal gas tragedy, sustainability in developing nations through Engineers Without Borders, and the lack of access to clean drinking water with H2O for Life. My fondest experience so far has been my work with the Sambhavna Trust medical clinic in Bhopal, India. To help them out, I fundraised tirelessly; I sent emails to anyone and everyone who would listen/donate, held recycling bottle fundraisers, coordinated with local restaurants to partner for fundraisers, and did just about anything possible to get people’s attention. In the end, I ended up fundraising over $11,000 for the gas tragedy victims--and the best part was that I got the opportunity to tangibly see how grateful and excited the community was after presenting them with the money.
Similarly, during my time with the Sierra Club, I worked on several different campaigns to help improve LA’s environmental footprint. As an intern, my job involved reaching out to the greater LA community to teach and involve them in being more environmentally friendly. I also sat in on Los Angeles City Council meetings, and directly talked to city officials to help integrate safe environmental practices into our community and to eventually partner with the Sierra Club. My greatest success was working on the Bay Delta Conservation Project in 2012 to help pass a resolution with the California Nevada Regional Conservation Committee to reduce the California’s reliance on the Delta.
Omaze’s vision to use transformative experiences to help remarkable social causes is one that I greatly identify with. I believe I am an excellent match for this position not only due to my past experiences, but also because I thrive in a team environment and always go the extra mile. At Omaze, I would make sure to bring my commitment as a summer intern while being creative and effective.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Abha Nath
