Oxford Analytica

Dear Mr.:

My name is  and I am writing to apply for the Fall 2015 Internship at Oxford Analytica. Currently, I am a rising junior at X, concentrating in Critical Geography and Economics. This fall I will be in New York City, participating in the Bard College Globalization and International Affairs program (BGIA). This program consists of evening courses in international relations and allows students to intern during the day for academic credit.

I would love to work with Oxford Analytica this fall because I believe risk analysis is highly significant in the conditions of modern economics. I am passionate about political and economic relations and I aspire to work in consulting and start my own international company in the future. I believe I could contribute a unique skillset as an intern at Oxford Analytica given that I was born and raised in Moscow, and have studied in both Germany and the US. My experiences in politicized and diverse international environments shaped my interest in the correlation between politics, economics and business.

I have taken many classes on economics and politics, focusing on topics such as the shift of China’s economy in 20th century, the emergence of the Eastern Bloc countries after the fall of the Soviet Union, and current problems stemming from globalization. I have experience researching topics including periods of collectivization and their outcomes in the USSR and China, as well as the connection between the economy of USSR and modern Russia to changes in demographic politics.

Last summer I interned as an assistant of a sales manager in GVA GlobaL Venture Alliance in Moscow, Russia which is a startup accelerator for companies and investors striving to work in Silicon Valley, CA. My responsibilities included communication with prospective and current clients, event sponsors and business coaches. This internship has given me the experience of the nature of startups and business competition in Russia, coupled with inevitable correlation to the world economy under complicated political conditions. I have also interned for an online magazine about Russia for foreigners called Russia Beyond the Headlines which enabled me experience to learn more about issues of external and internal censorship in modern global media.

I believe that my academic and work experience, personal curiosity in international politics and business, coupled with demonstrated ability to collect and analyze information from multiple sources and determination to learn rapidly, will make me a highly qualified candidate.

Thank you for taking your time to consider my application. I will be available to intern between 20-40 hours per week from August 31 to December 18. I am also available for Skype interview before August 22. Afterward I am available for interview in person at your convenience. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

XXX
