Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Parthenon

POSITION:

Consultant

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

I am interested in the Business Analyst position at McKinsey. I have avid interest in management consulting and had my first encounter with McKinsey in my sophomore year of college, when I came across “7s framework” while searching for frameworks for an intra-college case competition. Also, I have used McKinsey industry reports several times during my case competitions and internship. All these inspired me on work with McKinsey, with best minds solving real life problem of businesses and clients.

I am a final year student of Mechanical Engineering with a CGPA of 8.56 out of 10 with a department rank 3 among dual degree students. To expand my understanding of business and finance I have recently completed Business foundations specialisation (Wharton School) and Corporate Financial Analysis and Decision making specialisation (Melbourne University) offered on Coursera. These have helped me develop extensive knowledge of economics and business management practices, as well as quantitative and financial modelling skills.

My professional experience includes recent summer internship at ___, where I did an extensive market analysis of real estate industry in India. I developed Demand Analysis models for forecasting construction activity in Commercial and Residential real estate in India. The conducted research and models were used by the CEO for developing a market entry model.

Recently, my team was selected as Top 20 teams in the world for Valuation Olympiad wherein we were required to submit an Investment Memorandum containing valuation models. In addition to all these experiences, I enjoy working with teams and hold several leadership positions. As evident by my strong academic and extracurricular performance, I believe that I will be able to excel in the challenging work environment of McKinsey.

With my quantitative training, creative problem-solving skills and relevant coursework and professional experience, I am confident of excelling in the Business Analyst position at McKinsey.

I look forward to the opportunity of being interviewed in order to share more about my experience and skills that I could bring to McKinsey. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
