Sample cover letter for Internship position at Plan International
Intern
Dear Mr. Wink,
my name is Elisa Cassoni and I am a 23 years old Italian student.
I would hereby like to apply for the position of “Because I Am A Girl” Campaign Assistant.
It would be of great interest for me to cooperate with the association "Plane International" in the realisation of "BIAAG and Join Plane IH in Bruxelles". In fact, my education is grounded on an in-depth analysis in gender studies and is led by a strong interest on women's rights and equal opportunities in multicultural society and in the developing world.
I am currently attending a two years Master in "International Cooperation, Protection of Human Rights and Cultural Heritage in Mediterranean Sea and Eurasia" at the University of Bologna. In particular, my core courses are "Cultural Anthropology and Migration Processes" and "Human Right and International Law and Foundamental Rights Protection". My main goal is to explore these disciplines under the light of a gender perspective. From a transnational point of view, my aim is to gain knowledge about the role of "Universal Rights" in the everyday life of women, in both the contexts of immigration centres and developing countries.
In 2012 I have been volunteering as a teacher of Italian language and culture for the no-profit organisation "Mondo Donna", that is involved in supporting migrant women with minor and dependent children. It had been a crucial experience in my life, as it reinforced my interest in taking part of projects that fight gender discrimination, especially concerning the women's right to have access to appropriate education programmes.
Therefore, partecipating as an assistant to the logistic and financial management of BIAAG Campaign and confronting with International Relations issues would be a great opportunity for my career.
These are tasks that would allow me to get from theory to practice, as my study plan is precisely focused on International Cooperation and on pro-human rights social campaigns.
Italian language teaching experience and other voluntary activities that I mention in my CV allowed me to develop organisational and team working skills. Moreover, during my high school and university career I had the opportunity to spend some terms abroad, gaining proficiency in English, French and Spanish languages.
