As a sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, I am writing to express my sincere interest to work as a research intern under you, during May - July 2016 so that I can enhance my knowledge and hone my technical skills under your highly-qualified guidance.

The motivation behind my application is that this internship would provide me an ideal opportunity to gain real-world research experience in the field of Digital Signal Processing. It is my ambition to pursue a doctorate in the future, so I firmly believe that staying in an environment with cutting-edge technology and highly inquisitive minds at your institution would be an unparalleled experience.

My interest in digital signal processing and problem-solving in general has been cultivated by my active involvement in various electronic activities of my college. My professors recognised this and encouraged me to take up various projects in electrical engineering and related fields which has nurtured my interest further. Currently, I am part of a team of two students working under XYZ, designing a filter for VHF and UHF applications.

To my credit I have a fair amount of experience in software relating to electrical engineering which would be further enhanced under your tutelage. The varied courses I have done coupled with my research aptitude makes me well-suited for an intern at your prestigious institution. Also I am a member of the student welfare board of the college, this has helped me acquire various organisational and teamwork skills.
