Sample cover letter for Internship position at PwC

POSITION:

Deals Internship

GOT THE JOB? Yes

Dear Ms. XYZ,

As a graduate student at the XYZ University, I am interested in writing my thesis as an intern in the Advisory Financial Operations department of PWC. Currently I am earning my MSc. in Financial Economics and having completed all my classes, I am now focused on my master thesis.

I had the chance to talk to PWC employees at career events organized by the university and I was impressed by their enthusiasm and the collaborative culture of the company. My interest was encouraged further by the fantastic experience friends of mine had in their internships at PWC.

During my studies I selected a challenging curriculum, following classes in a variety of financial areas. This allowed me to develop strong analytical and communication skills, working on projects in Private Equity, Valuation, Strategy and Behavioral Economics. Furthermore, I gained experience working as part of a team on daily basis studying in seminar based programs.

What attracts me to financial operations advisory is the chance to work with a variety of clients and being able to help them address problems crucial to their success. Involved in the implementation of most activities, back-office functions are vital to businesses: they can either be a competitive advantage, if managed appropriately, or a liability, destroying value. With the current focus on automation in the financial industry and on workforce optimization to improve productivity, operations advisory is an interesting area to work in.

I am looking forward to writing my thesis and doing so at PWC has several advantages. The opportunity to receive input from professionals would enable me to conduct my research with a direct link to real world applications, providing useful insights for the company. Moreover, it gives me the chance to sit in on projects and to get to know the people and the firm culture. I intend to start my career in financial advisory after receiving my masters. Therefore, this would be an ideal way to get to know the firm and hopefully start my career at PWC.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hear from you.

Sincerely,
