Sample cover letter for Full Time position at RBC

POSITION:

Systems analyst

To whom it may concern,

I am a BCom graduate of ________ University, with a major in Information Systems and a concentration in Finance. I have been working at _____ for over two years as an ______. In this capacity, I have been deeply involved in the implementation of the company’s new ERP system (SAP) and associated continuous improvement projects. My current role involves supporting SAP improvement research, employee consultation for requirements gathering, system testing and training, security analysis and reporting, issue resolution and escalation, and finally project management.

At _____________ I was involved in one full cycle of SAP implementation that followed the waterfall approach to system development. My duties were to communicate system requirements to external SAP consultants, develop and adhere to the scope and perform Integration testing. Due to my proficiency with VBA I also wrote macros for mapping Legacy data to SAP for all implemented modules; SCM, CRM and FICO. Working with multiple departments in this way has given me a deep understanding of the implemented SAP modules and their interconnectivity.

As an ______ I am responsible for SAP continuous improvement which involves defining and communicating functional specifications to the IT team and third party programmers. I have also taken the lead to plan scenarios with end users for User-acceptance testing; this involves running through test scripts, identifying defects and working to resolve any issues through to completion. I regularly govern SAP authorization requirements for end users and their SOX compliance. Additionally I actively participate in system architecture meetings and work with the team to effectively streamline system processes and communication with other non-SAP systems. Due to my close interaction with the Supply Chain department, I provide a system independent viewpoint that is vital in realizing operational efficiencies.

My role as an SAP Power User has enabled me to coach users of various departments with transactions and processes to support daily use of the system. Any new issues, untested business flows and defects are recorded and escalated if critical. I also had the opportunity to lead, plan and execute Go-Live and ongoing SAP training for end users. As the chief trainer for SCM, I managed a contracted team in the creation of educational modules and ultimately in the execution of a comprehensive training program that was used as a guide for all other departments.

Additionally, I work closely with senior management to prioritize and budget for future projects. This involves conducting monthly presentations of current business issues as well as proposing appropriate solutions. Supporting many departments with SAP has given me a well-rounded experience of this flagship system, associated processes and their relationship to a larger organization.

If granted the opportunity, I look forward to working with ______ as a Sr. Business Systems Analyst and believe I am well acquainted with the tasks demanded of me within the scope of this position. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
