Dear Schoenmaker,

   Re: Volunteering

I am writing to express my interest in volunteering with your organisation ‘’SAMIVI’’. I am Ugandan and a current Graduate with a Master of Arts in Development Studies majoring in Human Rights, Gender and Conflict Studies, from the International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University of Rotterdam Netherlands and I have a work permit. I wrote my thesis on a topic related to the right to health. This research exposed me to the challenges developing countries go through in a bid to realise the right to health, and also sharpened my research and analytical skills. I would like to be part of ‘’SAMIVI’’ to advocate and ensures that everyone can enjoy the Right to Health.

Having worked as a legal officer and human rights officer with the Legal Aid Clinic, which is a Non-governmental organisation that aims at promoting legal awareness and advocating for human rights in the different parts of the country (Uganda). My time at the legal Aid Clinic saw me plan, advocate, implement, evaluate and report on projects that provided both legal remedies and human rights awareness. In addition to this, I participated in community outreach, collecting and analysing data, strategic planning, research, policy analysis, report and brief writing on the impact of different projects at different levels and also assessed the different stake holder’s reactions to the projects.

I believe my excellent organisation skills, communication skills, team work and flexibility can add value to “SIMAVI’’ while at the same time improving on my skills and technique to help me mature professionally and advance in the future while maintaining the mission, vision and values of SAMIVI.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I hope to hear from you.

Best regards,

Bwette Diana
