Sample cover letter for Internship position at Schroders
graduate program
I am currently completing an MSc in Investment Management at Cranfield School of Management and have recently achieved a second upper class honor in Economics and Finance at London School of Economics. I am interested in pursuing an Investment Graduate Programme at Schroders.
I have previously completed equity and venture capital financing course at summer school of Bocconi University. Through this experience I knew how to evaluate and control investments in various stages of a firm’s development, how to organize and manage the funding process. As a part of the course we completed a team project. The purpose was to organize close-end fund and prepare pitch book for potential investors. I performed quantitative analysis, chose the investment strategy of fund and managed the work process, as a result for examination and presentation I received 29/30. Based on that experience I understudied that valuation of companies’ performance and their rivals, construction of diversifiable portfolio, analysis of market and economic trends is what I want to do in my future carrier.
In final year of my undergraduate degree I completed a thesis which involved analysis of over 300 Russian and American companies. In order to interpret the dividend policy of that companies, I investigated the new for me statistical package STATA. I tested the Lintner model, the influence of such factors as ROE, leverage and investment opportunities on probability of dividends rise or fall, using CAPM model I conducted event study of changes in stock prices. This has given me the confidence that I can rapidly learn new skills when required to do so. Given my background in finance, leadership experience, analytical skills and ability to work under the pressure, I am a particularly good fit for Graduate Programme at your firm. I am impressed by performance of Schroder Global Quality Fund and Quality-based investment strategy which provides lover relative downside risk and outperforms a broad range of market environments.
