Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Sgurrenergy
Technical assistant
Dear Sir/Madam,
It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself to you by means of this application. In answer to your posted vacancy, I would sincerely wish to apply and challenge myself for the role of a Graduate Technical Consultant – Advisory Servicesat SgurrEnergy, United Kingdom. I strongly believe that the nature of the advertised position is focussed towards capability building and therefore would help me polish upon my existing skills and acquire further expertise under professional guidance.
I completed my bachelor studies (B.Tech) in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from India, and have further worked as an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer consultant in the offshore Oil and Gas Pipelines sector. My continued interest in studying measurement and automation science, led me to pursue my masters studies (Msc.) in Sensor Systems Technology from Germany.
My bachelors and masters study has not only equipped me with the theoretical fundamentals of industrial Sensing/Measurement techniques (Optical, Physical, Chemical etc.), signal conditioning, communication, and advanced control technology but also given me the opportunity to gain practical skills with software tools for Measurement/Data Acquisition, data analysis, and Control applications like: MATLAB + Simulink, LabVIEW and MS Excel through extensively project work as detailed in my CV. Some of these research projects, for instance, developing automatic solar tracking panel, study of linear MPC control model on wind turbines and my current master thesis work on sensors for low CO2 concentration measurement in the subsurface, helped me form a deep understanding and determination to engage in the creation ofnovel solutions for environmental sustainability. This in fact is one of my greatest motivations for building a career with SgurrEnergy, given to its long held expertise in consultancy and research based testing platforms in all forms of renewable energy. Through these projects
After my graduation, I got the opportunity to work for more than two years as an instrumentation and controls engineer with Wood Group Kenny, India. Being actively involved in the front-end and detailed engineering design consultancy, I was able to deepen my knowledge and have multidisciplinary project level experience in process conceptualization, feasibility studies, design, procurement, commissioning and maintenance activities based on approved Industrial standard practices for offshore Oil and Gas pipelines. I am confident this prior work experience in a consultancy environment would help me understand the nature of my responsibilities more comprehensively and much more quickly such as, developing as an expert in subject matter, understanding the intricacies of the project, weighing time and cost pressures and facing the clients confidently. Moreover, having experienced already the work culture and ethics of Wood Group Kenny, would help me adapt easily as a part of the company.
My continued involvement in team-based projects as part of my academics or my industry work experience has always made me further reflect upon my attitude for taking initiative, develop myself as a productive team player, develop strong conversational confidence as well as strong analytical and problem solving skills. I look forward to learn from interesting technical challenges and nurture new ideas. I am determined to bring the best of my capabilities and work hard as part of a motivated team if given an opportunity. I sincerely hope you will consider my candidature for further discussion.
