Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Shell

Shell is a company of particular interest to me due to the organisation’s emphasis on working creatively as a team to solve clients’ business problems. This philosophy resonates with me as it prompts trust and long-term client relationships and would allow me to apply the communication, teamwork and problem solving skills I have developed through both my studies and employment experiences.

My current role as a researcher a developed my problem solving and organisational skills as I have handled and managed multiple tasks effectively. The role also developed my communication skills as I have written peer reviewed journals and presented my research findings at multiple conferences. I also have experience working as an operations manager at an academic institution were I had to perform multiple tasks: updating the school’s data base, management of IT infrastructure, customer service, supervision of non-teaching staff amongst other responsibilities. By working collaboratively with management and staff, I have developed my teamwork, multi-tasking, leadership and communication skills.

As a volunteer with various charities, I have presented community education programs to raise awareness of poor situations with remand homes and also organised outreach programmes. These activities have developed my skills in public speaking, liaising with a wide range of people, organising and taking responsibility for managing an activity program.
