Sample cover letter for Internship position at Société Générale

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is XXX, and I am a finance & management student at the XXX. Currently, I'm in my XXX^th semester of my B.Sc. study and do my semester abroad at the XXX. My expected graduation date will be September 2017. 

I was recently introduced to your job offer via Graduateland, but Société Générale isn't new for me. Once I've decided to pursue a career in Investment Banking, due to the leverage, one could have on the market and the prestige a successful banker enjoy; I did my research in which bank I can best fulfil my aims. Since Société Générale "is one of the largest European financial services groups", it would be a good fit for me.
Through my studies with a focus on finance, I developed a keen interest in economics and the financial markets, which is why I searched for internships in the financial sector, especially in corporate finance.
At my previous internship with XXX, I accompanied sell side transactions. Through this experience, I gained an insight into many different sectors and learned to work to tight deadlines with great self-responsibility.
My tasks were to analyse business and financial profiles of multiple companies, presenting the results to the management and attending meetings with clients. Due to flat hierarchy, I get to work on almost every project with senior managers and thus I was able to get a deep insight into the world of M&A.
Furthermore, during my semester abroad I attend strategic financial management and financial information classes, which includes evaluating companies with the aid of market multiples and Shareholder Value Analysis methods.

I like to be part of the corporate finance department at Société Générale because I like to work in a fast-paced environment with demanding tasks. Besides, it's time to move on to a bigger company like yours, a prestigious bank with decades of experience and success.In the course of this internship, I hope to improve and strengthen my corporate finance competencies in modelling and valuation and set a foundation for an international career. At best case an international career at your firm.
