Sample cover letter for Internship position at Societe Generale
Finance Intern
To whom it may concern,
Herewith, please accept my application for the Finance internship found on the Rocket Internet website. I am looking forward to the opportunity to start an internship starting February 2016.
I am now pursuing my MBA at the Keio Business School in Tokyo under a scholarship awarded to me by the Japanese ministry of foreign affairs based on academicals achievements. A scholarship I justified by being on the dean’s list ever since I joined the program. I focused my studies on Finance and Strategy with a course set that includes Corporate Valuation, Venture Capital, Corporate Strategy, and Management Strategy. I was passionate by these courses and strived in them, receiving the highest possible grade for each. Having been especially fund of corporate valuation, Professor Sawaiwa recommended me during a lengthy discussion to join an investment bank after my graduation.
Before coming to Japan, I joined 3 friends in launching Peekok, the world's first online community generated collection of cocktails. I took in charge all the business and operational aspects of the startup and in August 2012 I led Peekok to secure a seed funding of $76.500. Peekok was released in March 2013 and by May it was the most downloaded iPhone app in Sierra Leone.
This was not my first entrepreneurial experience. In 2011, after graduating with a Computer Engineering degree from the American University of Cairo, I decided to work on an invention of my own. After pitching my idea to various organizations, I obtained a grant by the Qatar Foundation and built my proposed system in the Qatar Science and Technology Park in Doha. After 5 months of intensive work I had engineered and designed the device to turn it into a fully functional product that got successfully patented 18 months later.
I was raised in Paris by Egyptian parents, attended a German high school, an American university for my undergrad, and a Japanese university for my MBA. I am therefore fluent in 4 languages: English, French, Arabic and German, and have conversational skills in Japanese. My experience working on teams in Japan, Qatar, Germany and Egypt has allowed me to bring perspectives to the table while tapping on the strengths of a diverse group of people. I believe to be a valuable candidate for all international and multicultural projects.
Joining Societe Generale, even as an intern represents a tremendous opportunity to me. It would provide me with the ideal chance to start my corporate career with the best. I am aware of the challenges and difficulties of working in investment banking, but most importantly about the opportunities and excitements it provides. I believe that I would be an asset to your projects, as I have always valued partnership and integrity in my ventures, strived for efficiency and innovation, and found myself forced to always find new solutions and learn new methods to succeed in my projects.
Yours sincerely,
