Dear Sir/ Ma’am,
I am a final year M.Sc (Integrated) student of Department of Economics at Indian Institute of
Technology Kanpur. IIT Kanpur is consistently ranked as best among the premier
undergraduate institutes of India.
Consulting is definitely the career I want to pursue. My keenness for consultancy stemmed
through seniors who are working in consultancy firms. I was fascinated by the diversity of
the projects that a consultant handles. The constant need for creativity and innovation, and
prospects to work with outstanding minds is the major ingredients of a consultant’s job,
which are of supreme importance to me, as I have personally experienced that offbeat
thinking and excellent workgroup extract the best out of a person. Furthermore, an
immense opportunity for networking with people and travelling to different places is
something attractive and unique to consulting.
While working as a financial analyst at IVCA (New Delhi), I developed strong work ethics of
working under immense pressure and tight deadlines. My internship at Statistic Netherlands
was helpful in building my analytical skills where I worked for more than 2 months. Having
led a huge team of more than 700 students to organize Annual Technical Festival of IIT
Kanpur with a budget of more than INR 1.63 crores, I have gained an invaluable experience.
Being mentally and emotionally strong, ability to work under immense pressure and having
good problem solving skills, I feel that I will be a good match to the needs of the company.
Moreover, I always like to face new challenges and take on new responsibilities. Thus, by
coordinating and organizing several events and working in group projects, I have learnt
working in a team, and have developed analytical approach towards problem- solving.
